| SYNOPSIS |
|
It was twenty years ago when the orchestra played the romantic Waltz of the Toreadors and the dashing married lieutenant met a charming unwed maid and sparks flew. Years passed. Now, with his shrewish wife bedridden with an imaginary illness, his two silly daughters grown, and his paunch significantly more visible, the gentleman longs to rekindle his old romance. Written in 1952, this blustery sex-farce is a delightfully bittersweet confection with real bite. "Comic entertainment of striking excellence ... a stunning sardonic triumph." N.Y. Post |
