Stephanie Klapper (Casting Director) Her work has been seen on Broadway, Off-Broadway, regionally, internationally, on television, film, and heard on radio. Selected recent projects Off- Broadway: include: A.R. Gurney's Buffalo Gal (Susan Sullivan); Willy Holtzman’s Something You Did (Joanna Gleason); Michael Hollinger’s play Opus and Horton Foote’s Dividing the Estate (Elizabeth Ashley, Penny Fuller, Gerald McRaney) at Primary Stages (to be on Broadway Fall ’08); Brooke Berman’s Hunting and Gathering; In the Continuum (New York, national and International tours) for Primary Stages; Almost Heaven (Emelin Theatre) with Ruth Williamson; Frankenstein, a new musical (37 Arts) with Hunter Foster, Steve Blanchard, Christiane Noll; 27 Rue de Fleurus (Urban Stages); None of the Above (Lion Theatre); an oak tree (Barrow Street Theatre) The Polish Play (Katharsis Theatre Company at Walker Space); A Very Merry Unauthorized Children’s Scientology Pageant (Les Freres Corbusier at New York Theatre Workshop); Treason (Perry Street Theatre), Indoor/Outdoor (DR2 Theatre); The Jose Pliya Project: A Celebration…(ACT French Festival at The Ohio Theatre). NYMF: Marcus’ Hummon’s The Piper (with Christiane Noll, and Nancy Anderson); and Roller Derby (Lea Delaria).

Her work has also been seen on Broadway in the productions of the Tony nominated Bells are Ringing and It Ain’t Nothin’ But the Blues and the Off-Broadway Pulitzer prize winning production of Dinner of Friends. She also cast the Pulitzer prize nominated Elliot, A Soldier’s Fugue (P73 Productions) and Bulrusher (Urban Stages). Ms. Klapper won an Artios Award for casting a different actor for each performance of an oak tree for the duration of it’s acclaimed Off-Broadway run. (Over a 100 different actors from Mike Myers, to Frances McDormand, to Jim Dale…)

She has cast for Primary Stages for over 10 years –numerous productions including the recent New York premiers of Southern Comforts (Kathleen Clark, Judith Ivey, director); Indian Blood (A.R. Gurney, Mark Lamos, director); The Right Kind of People (Charles Grodin, directed by Chris Smith); and Dedication or The Stuff of Dreams (Terrence McNally, directed by Michael Morris); and numerous regional theatres including: New York Classical Theatre, Adirondack Theatre Festival, Capital Repertory Theatre, Cincinnati Playhouse, Hangar Theatre, Delaware Theatre Company, The New Theatre, Vermont Stage Company, Round House, Virginia Stage Company, City Theatre, Pittsburgh Playhouse, Clarence Brown Theatre, Commonwealth Shakespeare Company
Recently completed the NY casting for Mary Zimmerman’s The Arabian Nights for Berkeley Rep and Kansas City Rep.

Klapper Casting has cast several independent feature films including The Strange Case of Dr. and Mrs. Jacobs (Adrienne Barbeau); The Feast of the Goat (Isabella Rossellini); Uncertain Terms; Altamont Now!; and the Cannes Prix du Publique winning film Sidewalk Stories and Sundance Grand Jury Prize winning film Roberta.

Ms. Klapper is a member of the Casting Society of America and the League of Professional Theatre Women.
